You're a trooper. Seriously. And thank you.
Thank you for not being mad when she can't return your texts and calls immediately because she still has an hour and a half to go in her lecture before she has to race to the next one. Thank you for calling a 12am when you know she probably wants to be sleeping but you know she still wants to talk to you more.
Thank you for not getting mad when she awkwardly asks for a ride home because the next bus comes in an hour and it's cold outside. Thank you for being patient when she has to take the bus to meet you and she's a little late because let's be real--buses never run on time.
Thank you for randomly texting her "Good morning beautiful" because maybe she hasn't heard it in a while, and you know it'll start her day off with a smile. Thank you for the silly snapchats she opens but doesn't answer because if she gets caught taking a selfie in class her professor will make a comment.
Thank you for understanding that she can't always hang out and she feels bad when she says "no" to something because she has a lot of homework to do. Thank you for inviting her to things even though you know she won't be able to make it. It really is the thought that counts.
Thank you for still calling her your best friend even though you don't hang out as much as you'd like. Thank you for still calling her up and complaining about guys or school or college admissions. Thank you for telling her all your big news and keeping her involved in your life even though hers is the same mundane chaos every day.
Thank you for remembering her birthday and writing sappy posts on Facebook at midnight, even though she can't do the same because she can't keep her eyes open past 11.
Thank you for understanding that her life is different from yours, but still loving her. Thank you for letting her keep that most-important spot in your heart even though you don't talk or see each other every day, or even every week. You mean everything to her, and I hope she tells you.
Dedicated to my High School Best Friend, Emma <3
